Header
Table of contents
Shown at the top of every page of your online store, the header is what customers see first. It includes:
- your business logo,
- predictive search, where customers can search for products, blog posts and pages,
- a customer account link (if customer accounts are enabled),
- the cart drawer,
- the main menu.
Add a collection
Show off your most important collections, directly from your main menu. You can add up to 9 collections in this manner.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Next to Emporium, click Customize.
- Under the Header section, click Add Collection.
- Under Collection, click Select collection.
- Select the collection to display, then click Select.
Improve the art direction of a collection image
Featured images of chosen collections adopt a 1:1 (square) aspect ratio in the main menu. Sometimes, a featured image may not look right when displayed at this aspect ratio. You can optionally select a new image to improve art direction.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Next to Emporium, click Customize.
- Under the Header section, click a Collection block.
- Under Image (mobile), click Select image.
- Select the image to display, or upload a new image, and click Select.
Configure the layout of drop-down menus
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Next to Emporium, click Customize.
- Click the Header section.
- Under Drop-down menu layout (desktop), select an option.
- Optional: Check Show ‘only child’ menu items together (desktop).
When using Emporium, we recommend setting up your main menu in a certain way, to ensure all links are reachable. Learn more about setting up your main menu when using Emporium.
Enable the sticky header
If your online store has important menu items that you want to always keep visible, consider enabling the sticky header.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Next to Emporium, click Customize.
- Click the Header section.
- Under the LAYOUT heading, under Position, select an option:
- Default
- Sticky (when scrolling up)
- Sticky (always)
Enabling the sticky header isn’t recommended when the header itself takes up a lot of vertical space, which can happen when you have a large logo or many menu items.
